Stately, conservative, reckless and fragile – each with a coat of arms of a Frisian city on the kuras. The porcelain installation Armor is like the Frisian tradition, which protects the people and at the same time makes them vulnerable. Tradition protects but is also the Achilles’ heel of society, just as porcelain lasts for a thousand years or is smashed with grit.
In collaboration with Royal Tichelaar Makkum, Hans van Houwelingen created the porcelain installation as a tribute to the Frisian tradition. You can find out more about the assembling process of the Armor in this video by Hollandsemeesters.
