Mounted at the Park Avenue Armory, the Salon Art + Design – 12 -16 November – brought together the worlds of contemporary limited edition, vintage, craft-led art and design. Putting their best foot forward, some of the world’s top design-art players: Ammann Gallery, Carpenters Workshop Gallery,  David Gill, J. Lohmann, Nilufar, Priveekollektie, Galerie Maria Wettergren and antiques-cum-interior expert Axel Vervoordt stool the show with iconic works fit for a New York audience. However eclectic, the rich selection and grouping of specialised platforms had original Le Corbusier, Perriand, Jeanneret B301 Armchairs (presented by Berlin-based Galerie Ulrich Fiedler) up against Robert Stadler‘s Cut Past #1 Console (presented by Paris, London and New York-based Carpenters Workshop Gallery) or Kate Malone‘s Giant Magma Atomic Vases present by London-based ceramics forerunner Adrian Sassoon). A true highlight was Niamh Barry‘s open-structure and sketch-like Walking light installation, presented by New York-based Todd Merill Studio: handmade from polished and patinated bronze mirrors, glass opal tiles and imbedded LEDS. Salon Art + Design was a true gem on the annual fair circuit.
