A drip pot and one light

Since shadows emerge from the interaction between light and things, they are evidence of something being material not just abstract. Shadows can thus be tools through which to understand the relationships that humans form with different concepts and objects. Chanbyul Park combines material research of shadows with scientific, historical and intuitive research into metaphysical concepts such as time and light, to develop original contemporary fables that are shared through graphic novels and theatrical installations. The fables are an invitation to reimagine the relationships we have with the abstract concepts and objects that construct our sense of reality.
