Aqua Fossil Moon XIV

Amarist’s Aqua Fossil series envisions a future where water, the essence of life, becomes fossilized in the Earth’s surface. Using alabaster, they transform water into a tangible fossil, symbolizing the fragility of natural resources and the permanence of their loss.

In Fossil Moon, this idea evolves further with a circular mirror divided between alabaster and glass. The alabaster half represents a fossilized moon, while the mirrored half reflects both the observer and the cosmic void, merging past and present.

The creation process is entirely manual, with each piece meticulously hand-carved, sanded, and polished. Every stroke of the tool is a meditative act, revealing the stone’s hidden essence and reflecting the slow passage of time, which is central to Amarist’s artistic vision.
