Dew Green

Dew green is part of the Melting Series, a family of design objects that seem to melt. The process flows like the bronze melting in the foundry where craftsmen create each piece. They form the bench as a single piece: first shaping wax models, then casting them in bronze, and finally finishing them with a green patina.

The Melting Series brings together bronze design objects that appear to melt. The process mirrors the fluid movement of molten bronze in the foundry. Craftsmen shape wax models and cast them in bronze, creating each object as one piece with a highly polished finish. This process highlights the material’s fluidity and reflects the care both craftsmen and the designer invest in every piece.

Reinier Bosch takes a dynamic approach to design, capturing moments that usually unfold over time. Although the pieces remain static, they suggest movement; viewers of The Melting Series can easily imagine liquid flowing.

Reinier Bosch explains, “During a travel in Tibet, I saw a man spray-painting boxes red outdoors. This action also coloured the surroundings, fusing the object with its environment.” Both the object and the floor beneath it appear as though paint has poured over them, blending the surroundings into the piece itself. This idea—of object and background becoming one—forms the foundation of The Melting Series, resulting in shapes that appear to melt and continuously transform.
