This painting series originates from observing shadows cast by objects under artificial light.
Rather than representing the objects themselves, the artist records the contours and boundaries of shadows through painting. For the artist, light and shadow constitute one of the most precise visual languages through which a given era can be reflected. Light, object, and shadow form an inseparable system in which each defines the others.
The paintings operate as a recording apparatus, holding shadows that are momentarily formed and then disappear, re-inscribing the structures and orders that shape our world as traces and afterimages.
