The October Series began in 2010 as a collection of small light-based works created by Dominic for his wife in commemoration of their wedding day. The artwork draws on video recordings and moments of personal significance recalled from the event, together with the distinctive qualities and hues of autumnal light. The October Series has since continued to evolve into other formats.
Playing with a seemingly boundless virtual volume of coloured spheres, three dimensional movements of colour swirl through the cubic glass box. The colours and their speed of movements are choreographed to the four seasons of the year, capturing both the subtle and the more dramatic changes.
It has been designed and fabricated using an incredible palette of glasses and mirrors, and is a testament to Dominic’s obsession with precision and engineering which comes from his architectural background.
The October Cube is the final artwork in the October Series.
