Spix Macaw (Large)

Spix Macaw (Large)

Cyanopsitta spixii

#The possibly extinct Blue

Little is known about the Spix Macaw’s behavior, as research only really began when only three known birds remained in the wild. It is known that these birds ate berries and fruit and nested in tree hollows. It is the most endangered species, because they are endemic to a very particular habitat in the northeastern part of Brazil called Bahia.

“Ruffled” is a recent interactive artwork in which “living” portraits of birds are reinvented by using technology. Each “Ruffled” has been designed with its own particular mannerisms and beauty. Some birds are very expressive, while others tend to have a mora subtle behavior.
