Kabra Blauw by Boris van Berkum is a symbol of cultural unity, combining the spiritual significance of blue and white in Winti tradition with the Dutch national art form. Due to its’ incredible cultural significance it has ben selected by Wereldmuseum in Leiden to be a part of Enchanted by Gold. Depot Museum Boijmans van Beuningen is also currently exhibiting Kabra Blauw as part of Beloved: Public Favourites.
Dutch King, Williem – Alexander was viewied wearing Kabra Blauw pin during his speech on the 160th anniversary of the legal aboliation of slavery in the Netherlands, apologising for Netherland’s historic involvement in slavery. In his speech he said: ” On this day we remember the Dutch history of salvery, I ask forgiveness for this crime against humanitiy, As your king and as a member of the government, I make this apology myself . And I feel the weight of the words in my heart and my soul. ”
