Carolina Wilcke was born in 1980. She has a life-long interest in all things creative. Before her initial training as a goldsmith, she wanted to be a sculptor and Brâncusi is one of her influencers. An encounter with a goldsmith led her to another path. However, while completing this study, she was looking for more.
“I learned a craft, to find out i actually wanted to design things.”
Carolina attended the world-famous Design Academy Eindhoven, in order to acquire the tools that could help her channel her abundant imagination. She recieved a degree in design in 2009. At that time, she was directed by the famous trend forecaster, curator, publisher and educator, Lidewij Edelkoort. Carolina graduated specializing in interior products that are on the edge of art and design. During the institution’s graduation show in 2009, Irving and Miriam van Dijk, the gallerists from Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design, immediately noticed the intriguing combination between the celebration of art history and her refined reinterpretation and appropriation of her projects. Since then, her works has been exhibited at Design Miami/ Basel, PAD fairs, Art Geneva and others.
The works she designs are not only functional objects, but also objects we live with, they are our companions. “They should have an own identity and make us feel at home.”
Carolina was one of the co-founders of De Intuïtiefabriek in 2010. Together with Amba Molly, Eefiene Bolhuis and Eva Gevaert, they laid the ground for the vision of De Intuïtiefabriek. In 2013, Carolina decided to continue with her solo career.
