Aqua Fossil Chairs

AQUA FOSSIL Chairs are created within the Aqua Fossil series and share the same inspirational concept. Chairs are created from an Alabaster rock that was manually chosen by the artists at the quarry they have near their studio. It is a very rare type of Alabaster that is not commonly commercialized, which makes these sculptural chairs even more special. Both chairs are sculpted from one same rock; one is the inverse from the other, being forever united in their origin and formation. This selection and creation process makes the chairs a unique and unreproduceable piece. The raw finish of the sculptural chairs presents a trip to the roots of the geological formation of the Iberian Alabaster, a stone of sedimentary and metamorphic origin, which after the evaporation of a sea millions of years ago, led to the formation of this characteristic white stone with translucent properties. Now, the area occupied by this old sea is a desert in the ‘Ribera del Ebro’ area, where deposits of this mineral are extracted as independent blocks as if they were buried treasures under an old seabed.
